CHAPTER 1: A New World, A New Day
Wisteria’s light dusty purple wings glided to a halt, as the frost the leaves melted, she would now wait. Dawn was breaking at the top of the old oak tree, the sun glistens and the dark sky melts into an indigo pink, the long waited first day of spring has now arrived.
Wisteria’s wings ache from the night before, the night before the first day of spring arrives, is always the coldest. Her home in the hollow of the great oak tree frosts over and the winds howls wildly. Howling and screeching, the moon hid behind the marshmallow clouds, like a bat hiding from the piercing hot light. Trying to sleep all of a sudden her home begins to shake and rattle violently.
Task’s usually seem easy, but for Wisteria her task was troubled and hard worked, she had to work with foxes and wake up the owls, so a stroll or a glide around the meadow it was. Bouncing bunnies were fixing their rabbit burrow among the roots and sly sparrows were chirping greedily, as a tui fixed their nest, ugh mean! Flower meadow was her relaxing place and she would spend all day their if she could.
Wisteria spent all morning looking at the flowers and wanted to extract the nectar, but all was clean, all the birds and bees had used this nice morning and all went early. Beating her wings, wisteria took off with a rumbling stomach, she was too hungry and so tired, you could tell it had been a rough night. If she could get to that perfect place to live here, in the old oak, she would be eternally grateful.
Hoping she could have a break before her clean up, Wisteria climbed the heights with her wings and landed on her favorite branch, the west branch, the one above owl cove, the biggest hollow built in these parts!
Flying and smelling the juiciest nectar around, were some of Wisteria’s favorite things to do, things that made her feel so content deep down inside, in the deepest part of her heart. But today was different, today someone new would come, someone waiting for fluffy food.
CHAPTER 2: A Snake’s Vision
Ruby Venom was the well known runaway daughter of the King and Queen of Poison Drop, a snake haven. And today Ruby was using the biggest pot she could find in her old tunnel, to make funnel fever soup. Ruby sometimes regressed her choices, but mostly because she could never get even a scrap of food, her life was miserable. Dreams were Ruby’s only escape from life, all that was here in this hole in the ground was a pot, some hay and mud.
Consuming her, Ruby couldn’t run from the loneliness, her life here was damp and dirty, but she knew, she could never be half the ruler her parents were. After that tragic night, Ruby couldn’t let herself to take up the role as a Queen of Poison Drop. Dusk Venom was Ruby’s twin brother, and when he disappeared alone in the night, one year, he never returned. Ruby ran away shortly after her brother’s disappearance, she could not live without her brother, so her decision was made.
Slithering out of her den, Ruby slipped down to Echo Lake, next to the Echo Caves. Echo Lake was a small lilypad shaped lake, that reminded dear Ruby about her long lost brother, Dusk.
Wandering further up the meadow, Ruby saw the big oak, all battered by the storm. Foxes buzzing around the trunk, owls falling asleep, while stocks drop on the animals heads below and a small humming bird flapping around a broken branch hanging near the top of the trees.
CHAPTER 3: A Mystery From Echo Lake
Batting the tree with the tip of her tale, Ruby reached up branch by branch until she could climb no more, because she was tired and there was hardly anymore tree to climb. Moving her lime green body, Ruby was about to reach for the hummingbird’s tail, but then a big gust of wind blew her from the top of the oak tree!
As panic fills the air, Ruby’s mind spins in circles, round and round endlessly, Ruby closes her eyes for her last moment, Dusk flashes to her mind and suddenly, The world stops.
It was dark , not like a single ray of light, Ruby saw that this place had been cleaned a good couple of minutes ago. Flax curtains lay across a sort of “ door “ in the oak tree. There was nowhere for which Ruby could get her breakfast, she was so hungry! Her lunch had whizzed out of the sky, but deep down she knew it was wrong, she knew this hummingbird would be important. She knew this small hummingbird was the only person she could trust. Ruby had met many people in his life but always something was wrong and that friends ended up being the worst person in the secrets. This hummingbird had saved his life! Ruby could not believe it. No one had ever done something well for her.
Wisteria fluttered into her hollow, tying back the flax curtains, letting fresh light into the cool room, “ morning sleepy head, had a big fall back there “, muttered Wisteria from all the way from the other side of the cleansed hollow. Landing on her own bed, Wisteria nuzzled on some mint leaves and some honey water juice.
“ Um, what happened. I feel kinda woozy “ whispered Ruby, lying back down on her twigs and hay. “ Probably are sick. You feel and, well you fell into a deep sleep. Though I can see why you did fall into sleep, with a deathly drop like that “, exclaimed Wisteria.
“ I don’t remember much, but in my sleep I swear I saw . . , I saw my brother “, Ruby stopped talking and slithered straight out of her roost, to the hollow opening. “ Wait where you going “ ! Wisteria grabbed some mint leaves and rambled out of her humble home, shutting the flax curtains behind her.
Sliding down to the roots, Ruby bolted off to Echo Lake, flopping on the edge of the lake. “ Oh Dusk I miss you so much, why did you have to leave! “ Ruby sniffed, “ Every Time I look in the lake I see you, you’re always there, just waiting! “ sobbed Ruby losing her balance and falling into the lake, and it was there that she found her brother!
Dusk rushed to Ruby and swam up to the lake’s peek, poking his head out of the water, hurdling Ruby onto the salty sand. “ No, no, no, you should have never jumped in the lake, you could of been attacked by Bruno, the crocodile! “ Muttered Dusk, eurshing Ruby to wake up. “ Um, aren’t you supposed to be, um, dead. “ Protested Wisteria bluntly, flying the peak of the lake, “ Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know Ruby very well, but there are tales of you and her, and in them you are dead, no offence. “ Wisteria landed on the battered edge of the swirling water and waited for a response.
Instead this is what she had got, “ Dusk is that you, I thought you were, were dead. How can you be alive and how could you leave me like that, at Poison Drop. “ Shouted Ruby getting angry. “ Why did you leave me to run the kingdom, you know I never liked royalty, I was a total drop out. Blurted Ruby, she was just about to get up when Dusk managed to greed the end of her long slimy body. “ Wait, I never meant to hurt you, I just had to. I didn’t think I could rule alone and after my discovery, I did not want to stay! “ - “ What the heck are you talking about! I either need to know what “ discovery “ you made or I’m going home, as in ran away because of you. “Blabbed Ruby.
“ My discovery was I am not your brother at all, I am a venomous Enhydris enhydris, a rainbow water snake, and I was born in the Indonesian. And your parents found me on a leaf, floating down CottonMouth Cove, about to be lunch. “ Dusk just made conversation worse, “ and that was not the worst thing i found out about. On Wednesday, an army of weasel’s will attack and Poison Drop will fall into oblivion. I could not stay there, now that my life was threatened and when I thought of telling you, a weasel, called Leonardo Bobinski, snake napped me and hide me in Echo Lake forbidding me to leave. I am so sorry that i left you and I never came back, I don’t expect you to forgive me at all. “ sulked dusk, flopping to the ground letting his slim, greeny brown body fall into the water.
Ruby did not know what to do with what her brother had told her, how was her brother not really her brother. “ Wait don’t go. I’m so confused and if this is true then why are you leaving? “ - “ “You want me to stay, after everything I just said! “Dusk was now very confused, “ I want you to take us to Poison Drop and if you don't then, well, I guess we will save the kingdom alone! P.S I have no idea where Poison Drop is after all these years. “ Ruby hummed waiting to hear his voice, “ Okay, um do I come or not, I just think I’m a hummingbird and I’m hanging with two strange snakes of royalty. “ Wisteria had a quaver in her voice. “ Well hows this: both of you girls come and I shall lead the way, good? “- “ Good! “ the girls replied in synch. And the journey began.
CHAPTER 4: The Ending Battle
Poison Drop was a day's trek away and Dusk was munching away at freshly caught huhu beetles. Afternoon came by and Ruby decided to rest. Wisteria decided to leave dusk and Ruby in peace and go for a little fly ahead, as her wings were falling asleep. Though she see’s an odd movement in a lake about Three kilometers ahead, curious, she flutters over to the Glistening lake and sees an opportunity.
The sight was definitely worth the wait, the stones were all perfectly carved and the snakes, oh so many snakes, but now Wisteria wasn’t so sure, so many snakes, she could get eaten! Wisteria was starting to get scared.
When Wisteria was about to get there they were Ruby and her brother sees about two kilometers were coming weasels . They were almost a hundred and went to a very rapid pace. Wisteria flew as fast as she could, Wisteria had to notify Ruby and his brother came the army. For more than weasels were by going to the drop of poison , could see them and would not be anything good.
Hurriedly she flies back to Dusk and Ruby still sliding along the path camly, completely unaware of what is actually happening. Wisteria approaches Dusk and Ruby again and shout out to them “ Quickly Guys come on Poison drop is in danger!!!” Ruby starts to panic and everything suddenly feels very tense. Wisteria Quickly explains everything she saw, as Dusk and Ruby listen worriedly, “We have to go and warn everyone” Dusk shouts “SHHHHHHHH, the weasels might hear us be quiet dusk !!” Whispers ruby .” I’ll fly ahead and make sure the path is clear”wisteria whispers
Weasels never pity or mercy anyone, let alone a whole army of weasels.
And the fight begins. Snakes full of rage come out of their home and hide their children. The queen and king sends a whole army of snakes flying at the enemy. Venom splatters over the battlefield as many soldiers fall.
Weasels scamper away and snakes flew as every animal is one for themselves. Wisteria swoops to the air and checks the skies, making a beeline for the glistening lake.
Suddenly an eagle swoops down from nowhere and grasps Wisteria in his firm claws, tearing at her wing, causing it to bleed. Wisteria cries for help as the eagle launches to the sky. As Wisteria sees her everything below herself, her heart beats out of her chest. The eagle releases her from his claws and she slowly plummets to the ground, falling and falling. Wisteria realizes she has a great life, but now, at this very second It’s In the Past.
